Céline Akçağ, born in Zurich/Switzerland, got her first singing lessons from her mother. After pre-college at the Konservatorium Zürich, studying with Ulrike Andersen, she completed her Bachelor's degree in opera, concert, and vocal pedagogy in Freiburg i.Br. (DE) with Prof. Dorothea Wirtz. An exchange semester led her to Mary Nelson and Iain Ledingham at the Royal Academy of Music (LDN). At the Theaterakademie August Everding (MUC) she completed her Masters in “Musiktheater/Operngesang” with KS Prof. Andreas Schmidt. She is currently doing a Master in"Konzertgesang" at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with KS Prof. Christiane Iven and Okka von der Damerau, as well as a Postgraduate "Liedduo" at Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with Prof. PauliinaTukiainen.

Masterclasses with Vesselina Kasarova, Ian Bostridge, Alessandro De Marchi, Anne Le Bozec, Prof. Claudia Visca, Prof. Ulrike Sonntag, Tobias Kratzer, Gerd Uecker and Nadine Secunde complemented her education.

As part of her study programs, she sang Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel, Humperdinck) at the Kleines Haus Theater Freiburg, as well as performing at the Prinzregententheater Munich in the roles of Dorabella (Così fan tutte, Mozart), Vanina(L'Ancêtre, Saint-Saëns) and Glückskind (Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren, Hanke).

 

In the 19/20 season, she sang Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro, Mozart) at the Saarländisches Staatstheater, Geisterkind 1(Coraline, Turnage) at Opernhaus Zürich, and Sesto (Giulio Cesare, Händel) in concert with the BayerischeKammerphilharmonie.

She further sang Carmen (La tragédie de Carmen, Bizet/Brook) at the Osterfestspielen Baden-Baden and the small Berliner Philharmonie, and the roles of Nancy (Martha, Flotow) and Giannetta (L'elisir d'amore, Donizetti) at Heubühne Zürich.

Since 2019, she belongs to the cast of the opera cabaret 'D.I.V.A' and is touring with them in France.

In the 20/21 season, she is playing the part of Modestina (Ilviaggio a Reims, Rossini) at Staatstheater Augsburg and Boulotte(Ritter Blaubart, Offenbach) at Theater Lüneburg.

Céline won 1st prize at "Grand Prize Virtuoso" in 2020, as well as the study prize 2019 and 2020 of the Migros Kulturprozent(CH). She is now part of the Migros Concert Agency. In 2019, she won the recognition prize at the International Competition Karlsruhe for Lied in the 20th and 21st centuries.
